This past Thursday, December 7, did not go as well as it could have for the Northview Titan’s wrestling team. The Northview Titans faced the Wesleyan Wolves and the Clarkston Rams. The Titans struggled in their matches against the Wolves and the Rams, but Head Coach John MacDonald was proud of his team not giving up and fighting throughout the whole day.
“Wesleyan is a class act. They have great wrestlers. It is evident that [Wesleyan] has a program where their wrestlers work from middle school to high school, but for us, we have first year wrestlers that are still learning. They kept fighting and I’m proud of them,” MacDonald said
The experience of Wesleyan was overwhelming and unexpected for the Titans. It was clear to see who the veterans were. Even though the Titans struggled, individual wrestler and state qualifier Gabe Garcia still held his own and was not fazed.
“One wrestler that did well was Gabe Garcia. He did a great job. Everyone else did not quit too, and that’s what I expect from them: not to quit and keep pushing when all odds are against you,” MacDonald said.
The Titans are looking rebuild from this and hope to get better. The goal is to improve every day and never give up.
