Swimming Preview

As the fall is coming to an end and winter approaches, the Titans swimming team is getting ready for the start of the season. The season just kicked off on November 11 at Dynamo in a tri-meet against Alpharetta and Chattahoochee.

“Our goal for this season is to get as many swimmers as we can to qualify for state to represent our school,” Head Coach Anthony Cianciola said.

The team has a total of 55 swimmers and only five of them are seniors. The biggest classes are the juniors and freshmen with 12 swimmers each.

“[The goal is to] get as many non-year-round swimmers to state and have them improve,” Cianciola said.

Many of the swimmers on the team are not year round swimmers as most of the swimmers play multiple sports.

“We lost a lot of seniors last year and are trying to rebuild the team,” Cianciola said.

Despite losing many of their leading seniors, there are 12 new freshman on the team this year. Cianciola is trying to rebuild the team with the new freshman gained. This year’s seniors have a key role in the success of the squad this season. They have to fill in many pieces of this team to cope with the loss of last year’s seniors.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how the freshman work on the team,” Junior Cam Auerbach said.

Auerbach, one of the leaders on the team, hopes to see if the freshmen can bring value to the team. He knows that with the huge loss of the seniors the freshmen have to step up.

“I know we have a good group of freshman and hopefully they can translate well into the pool,” Auerbach said.

The freshmen make up almost a quarter of the team. Auerbach has qualified for state the past two years and wants the team to do well. Since there are so many new members on the team this year, the seniors have to step up to show them how everything works.

“I am actually very excited for this season to start since I have not swam for 3 years,” Junior Jenna Park said.

Park is a new member this year and it’s her first time swimming for Northview. She is excited for the season to start and ready for her inaugural season with the team. She’s ecstatic to see how her first season will be.
