This past Tuesday, October 24, the Cross Country team competed at Webb Bridge Park in the region tournament meet. The boys team ran well and qualified for the state meet. The boys came in third place, cementing their position alongside the first, second, and fourth place teams that will travel to state.
The girls did not qualify this year for the state tournament except for one runner: senior Sarika Temme-Bapat. Although the girls will not be moving on this year, they still had some personal best times this past Tuesday.
“This year for the girls was a rebuilding year. But even though they were rebuilding they still ran very well. A lot of people had their personal best times,” Head Coach Anthony Ciancola said.
The boys team is not done yet, wanting more than just state qualification from their season. The team is more prepared than ever to make some waves in the big finale. Despite a disappointing close to the season for the girls, Ciancola has a positive attitude going into the offseason and everyone in the program is optimistic for the future.
