This past Saturday, September 23, the Titan Cross Country teams dominated on the course at the ATC Wingfoot Classic in Cartersville, GA. The varsity boys team, led by Michael Smith, ran incredibly well. The junior varsity team also experienced great success. Both teams finished in first place overall, leaving the competition in the dust.
The girls team ran a very solid race as well, finishing in third place at the meet. Northview’s runners as a whole performed at the top of their class and met and surpassed the expectations set for them.
The big story of the weekend was Northview’s runner, Smith, setting a new school record that has been standing for nine years. He managed to get through the course in a cool 16 minutes flat. He is slated as one of the top runners in the state right now.
“Michael has continued to impress people as we have expected. No one works harder than he does and he is reaping the benefit of that,” Head Coach Anthony Ciancola said.
