On Saturday, August 19, the Northview Boys and Girls Cross Country teams set out for Westminster High School and the Kosh Classic.
Individually, the boys performed well, especially senior Michael Smith. Smith broke the course record in the 5,000 meter final with a time of 17.04.90.
Behind Smith were his teammates, senior Paul Graham and junior Harman Soor, at 22nd and 25th, respectively. Overall, the boys placed third and scored 112 points.
“Our race this week was especially tough because of the numerous hills,” Soor said. “But as a team, we mentally prepared for the hills and did a lot of hill workouts.”
The girls finished second overall scoring 86 points. Senior Sarika Temme Bapat finished fourth overall for the girls. Temme Bapat had a time of 21.38.90. Shortly behind her in 13th was fellow senior Elizabeth Burton. Burton finished with a time of 22.50.40.
The Titans were fairly successful in their first meet of the 2017 season.
“Everyone did great and it was really cool to see everyone cheer each other on at the finish line,” sophomore Lauren Williams said.
The Titans next meet, the Lambert River Run, is next Saturday, August 26, at Chattahoochee Pointe Park.
