On Tuesday, February 28, Northview Titan girls’ tennis (4-1, 3-0 Region 7-AAAAAA) defeated North Atlanta in dominating fashion in their third region match of the season.
The team won four out of the five lines, dropping only two doubles in a dramatic 7-6, 4-6, 5-7 three-set contest as daylight slipped away. All three singles players, led by junior Suma Yarabarla and freshman Chloe Brown at lines one and two, won their matches 6-0, 6-0, not conceding a single game. The first doubles line of seniors Aria Ragas and Sasha Timokhin also came extremely close to continuing that trend, losing just one game.
“The girls played great. It was a really good match for all of us,” head coach Donna McCarthy said.
The Titans will face off against a talented Cambridge squad on March 2 in a high-powered matchup. Northview will look to take the momentum from their big win to take down the Bears, but it will be no easy task.
“[Cambridge] will be tough. It will be much different talent from what we saw [against North Atlanta],” McCarthy said.
