Men’s Lacrosse Comes Away With Win on “Lax For Leukemia” Night

On Thursday, March 3, the Northview Titans men’s lacrosse team (1-3, 1-1 Area 4- AAAAAA) won a hard fought battle against Alpharetta (1-3, 1-1) by a score of 7-6 on Northview’s annual “Lax for Leukemia Night”.

The Titans gained a massive momentum shift on a half-time buzzer beater goal by senior Charlie Miller to give them just enough energy to beat their division rival and attain their first win of the season. Coach Stephen O’hara was excited about his first career win with the Titans.

“It feels great to get the first win of the season and hopefully, that positive energy continues through the season,” O’hara said.

Juniors Michael Paulo and Parker Weiss’ goals in the second half were enough to offset Alpharetta’s leading scorer, senior Jake Medina and his hat trick. Although Northview didn’t win the faceoff battle on this chilly day in March, they managed to outplay Alpharetta during the man-up plays and also defended well when they were man-down. The referee’s became very generous with their penalty calls toward the end of the game while letting both teams “play” more than usual.

Northview will look to continue their winning ways when they head to Peachtree Ridge on Saturday, March 4, followed by another home game against Mill Creek four days later.
