Road Game Recap: Titans Wrestle at Bulldog Brawl

Over the weekend, January 21-22, eight members of the Titan wrestling squad, five junior varsity competitors and three varsity competitors, traveled to North Forsyth for the Bulldog Brawl. The combined team placed tenth out of fourteen schools, putting up 33 points overall. Two wrestlers won their matches and placed well in their individual weight classes. Freshman Aaron Redmond secured second for junior varsity and sophomore Gabe Garcia took third for varsity.

“It was a great event because we wrestled a lot of teams that we wouldn’t have seen in our area. It gave the guys another opportunity to match up with someone they wouldn’t expect to be wrestling,” head coach John MacDonald said.

Titan sophomore Simon Schuster was called for stalling and lost his match, costing him what MacDonald believes could have been a top three finish in his class.

“I see [Schuster] learning from his mistakes and improving, getting ready for regionals,” MacDonald said.

Northview Wrestling will finish off their season on January 27-28 at Centennial in the Region competition, where MacDonald expects his wrestlers, especially Schuster and Garcia, to perform well and go far after a good week of hard practice.
